Engineering Projects
Soft Robot with Helical Flagella
UCLA Structures- Computer Interaction Lab
Project: Modeled the movement of bacteria within the body, with a miniaturized soft robot with a helical flagella tail moving in glycerin (high viscosity liquid) to simulate the low Reynold number of bacteria relative to the body.
Role: Electrical Design Lead

Role: Aerodynamics Lead (Fins)
Skills Developed:
Carbon fiber layup process. I've made 30+ aeroshells and refine the manufacturing process, developed a new procedure for finer quality aeroshells.
Fiberglass layup process: I used tip to tip fiberglass layers along with slots within the
I validated the new material composition through a 3 point beam test that I compared to CAE of expected flight loads on the fin.
I created beam coupon samples to test, and used the hydraulic press to find the failure load for the beam.
I developed a new manufacturing procedure to perform the layup, and sourced the film adhesive (red) from a supplier in Northern California. I visited their facility and they sponsored the material.
